As a youth, it is deeply concerning to witness the senate and the entirety of our government to be a practical joke in front of the whole nation.
Philippines. Honestly, is this what we become? Do we need to steep so low? To treat every Senate hearing like a street fight. It is such a shame to see educated and powerful people failing to show any ounce of proper decorum.
Those are the candidates of my people. They represent our nation and yet they argue like children playing in a debate.
It made me wonder what type of future is ahead of us. Where were the leaders of this nation leading us? Are they even leading us? or just using the premise of leadership as a means to get power and money?
What’s more concerning for me is how the Senate and Congress is slowly losing credibility. As of the moment, they were treated as jokes, a means of entertainment for the citizens. How can I trust this government if they can’t handle situations professionally and seriously.
To my people, to fellow citizens. I understand that this may seem funny to you but the subject of the matter has serious consequences therefore it is not to be made a joke or meme. We are talking about the credibility of our government in representing us — the citizens.
It is something not to make fun of. I respect your optimism and sense of humor but it is time to treat matters with all seriousness. I am calling my fellow Filipinos to ensure the well-being and integrity of our nation. I am calling on the next generation of voters. Please make sure that the next set of people who will represent us are honorable, with principle, and most of all value the well-being of this nation.
Behave Philippines. We, the youths are watching. If this is not the future you envisioned then this is not the present we wished to be. We are the one who are living your mistakes.
Vote rightfully, and make sure that the next generation, the “hopes” won’t take us as a joke.
Be sure to consider the future and consequences of your actions. Don’t vote because of the bandwagon, don’t vote because you have the same birthday, don’t vote because of promises. Think of what message you are sending to us when you vote for leaders who are not deserving of power.
